Character Name: Phillip Gray the Phone Guy
Canon: Five Nights at Freddy's (Up to FNAF3)
Game Transplant: Midnight Syndicate
Original App: Currently unavailable, reuploaded here
Game Summary: Kinky sex game with a lot of murder, crime, and magic. Hilarity ensued
How long was your character in Game: A year
History of Character in their Game:
When Phillip Gray arrived in Eros, he had nothing to his name other than his uniform and his badge. He was meant to die in that cramped office in 1992, seized by Freddy but somehow the Maeve stopped the moment in time before he was stuffed into a suit. He accepted the deal terrified of having come so close to death, that he didn't think about what it meant. He was assigned to Sarah's wing, a subtle jab at his inaction in preventing the murder of eleven children and the Bite of '87. Both these events factored greatly in his desire to atone for his sin, though the revelation of the off-world servants did…give him pause. Even though he was from the 1990s and sexuality was freer than in his parents' time, he still felt ashamed of his work as a prostitute for the Maeve.
That wouldn't last forever, as friends both present and gone helped Gray in the process of not just accepting his work but embracing his body and freedom that came with it. Though still awkward and bumbling in some aspects, Phil has learned to use his body as both a tool to get what he wants and a weapon. That last part came about when Sarah granted him lycanthropy back in May, originally meant as a way to aid with the night guard…by making him into a guard dog. It was in July that Phil realized what was causing the "black-outs" and thanks to Belle's gift of the red cloak and Loki's guidance that he began to properly use the gift to defend those he loved and cared for. V'kebbe would then offer Phil lessons in using daggers, in order to teach him to not always rely on the beast.
Throughout his first year in Eros, Phone Guy would sneak away and cook for himself and his friends. This was mostly for fun and nostalgia of days when he worked in restaurants not haunted by the souls of murdered children and that smiling Purple Guy. But it's through this and the cake fiasco in October that Phil realized he had a knack for both baking and potions, culminating in getting the Phone Tap Bakery and Catering Service. It's here that the former night guard truly bloomed into both his past as a restaurant manager, chef and experimenting with potion-based magic. It's also here that he begins his underground business of Information gathering and brokering, keeping an eye on the various gangs for the Maeve.
How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?)
Unlike his canon self, Phil is much more open in terms of talking about his emotions and accepting his past as a guard at Freddy Fazbear's. Mostly because the Maeve were a crime family and to survive, Phil learned how to spy and listen into conversations, giving him an edge over his canonical self. Many issues still remain with Phone Guy, particularly his self-worth and his guilt complex over not stopping the murders at Freddy's or saving the people he cares about. As a result, he tends to indulge in drinking or finding a carnal distraction to keep his mind away. He's also paradoxically more heroic and optimistic than he ever was from his canon self as he understood the risks of not playing by the rules. He's been to rock bottom, all he can do now is get back on his feet.
How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):
Aside from the powers, Phil has gained a fair amount of scars from shifting, and facing down a very powerful witch. His right forearm still carries the scar of fighting a reanimated servant while his left has a leftover slash from fighting Greta Maeve. He has a bite scar down the side of his neck that he keeps covered up since they happened during…well Zephyr, how much do you know about the birds and the bees?
Powers:
1. Ingame shapeshifting into either a wolf or fox, or gain traits from either form including claws, and enhanced senses. Mostly used as either a guard dog.
2. Working knowledge of potion-based magic via baking.
Possessions: The full collection of Freddy Fazbear Gang toys (limited edition don'tcha know), two daggers by his friend V'kebbe, and a red cloak that stops involuntary transformations On the larger scale, the Phone Tap Bakery, his place of legitimate business and where he practiced his craft.
Please provide three samples from your previous game, at least one will have to be third person with context:
Sample One: Sample of February Open
A- The Morning Rush
It's been a few weeks since Belladonna left the Crossing and it's beside her picture that Phil placed a fresh red rose for her in a vase. He started every day at six am, put on the coffee and got to working on the February Menu and the breakfast rush. Routine was comforting, routine was habit and every time the seasons changed, that meant new recipes to try out. He made sure that even if she was gone from Eros and back in her world, she was always in his life and his shop.
A soft THOWP! sound was heard from under the sweets display case and Gray sighed out. V'kebbe had left as well, but at least Phil was more certainty of her return. She was as stubborn as the green fish waddling around his side of the counter.
"Cuddles no, you're not going to break the glass with that spatula, and you're not getting a knife," he said he picked up the tonberry from the floor and placed him in the high chair. He then retrieved the small chef's hat he had for Cuddles and added, "And you know this is uniform." He doesn't know if it'll respond or understand but the tonberry has been very expressive. That and it didn't seem to mind the apron as much as the hat.
There are boxes ready for delivery to various places around Eros, one for the Rose Crest Agency and Phil's putting the last touches on the one marked Hardhats for Hearts. It's a busy day but he'll be glad to serve people with a smile and his "Hello-hello and welcome!"
B- Testing new things
Even before the mess at Freddy Fazbear's happened, Phillip was the sort of guy that gave the extra mile in his work, and made sure everyone had a good time. With every influx of new arrivals to the Crossing, and not all of them eager to engage in the sex work, it reminded him of his own first few months. Of times he felt so insecure of himself and his body, some of them still lingered thanks to his past guilt. So he started researching and testing potions that would boost confidence as well as a trial hour of a mild aphrodisiac to let them experience the euphoria at a comfortable pace.
Apparently, Phone Guy hasn't learned the lesson about leaving food unlabeled.
"Uh," he looked over to see that at least one of his experimental cheesecake treats was missing. Could've sworn there were ten of those he thought to himself and asked the nearest person, "Excuse me but…did you eat from this platter?"
Sample Two: Inbox thread with V'kebbe the Stray
Sample Three: Toplevel from Event
It was one of those days that Phil thought about those who were killed or disappeared in the year that transpired. So many names that went forgotten or lost. And with the power going as it did, Gray was having a moment of weakness himself. He wanted warmth, yes, but he wanted to hear the voices of those he missed so much…
Sensitive ears then picked up a whisper, one of a woman talking to others. Then a man's voice, all vaguely familiar for the distraught servant.
"What the- Hello? Hello?" Phone Guy called out into the whispering and stumbled into a distortion.
Suddenly the room lit up into a massive party, the likes of which made the earlier Maeve parties look like playdates. Gold and opulent foods took over his senses and he was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event. But what spooked Phil was the most was the presence of Greta Maeve. He stumbled around and hid against one of the wall.
Okay, I-I think I'm making a vow, no more drinking, he thought as he wandered towards nearest seat. He'd just made an ass of himself, best not poke the metaphorical bear.
Notes: While his point of origin may be explicit in themes and context (sex, vice, crime, murder), I will in no way push player comfort levels by bringing in explicit details about Midnight Syndicate's darker undertones without permission by the other player.
As the Sister of Sloth and Patience, Sarah Maeve was a distant mistress who preferred to partake in her vices and get high as a kite than to properly maintain her servants.
That wouldn't last forever, as friends both present and gone helped Gray in the process of not just accepting his work but embracing his body and freedom that came with it. One of the first friendly faces Phone Guy met in Eros, Yu Narukami has a special place in Phil's heart and it shows in how doting he was to the strange young man. He was the first real bond in the Crossing and w hen Yu was punished for snooping around, Gray was quick to settle things with the vindictive Loki and enraged V'kebbe the Stray.
Though their initial interactions were noxious thanks to a premature bias by way of another servant, Phil allowed himself to give Loki the benefit of doubt and even tease when Loki was afflicted with a Hint of Cat Potion. Now he's basically the Pussycat or Cat God, though it's not all snark. Loki (in his female form) was the one who named the wolf Gram and Phil trusts the god inherently, simply because he's honest in his bastardry. It's also Loki whom Phone Guy allows to explore some of the darker desires they shared, and let his own lust run freely.
Though still awkward and bumbling in some aspects, Phil has learned to use his body as both a tool to get what he wants and a weapon. People like Loki, showed him that words and actions don’t always have to reach murder to be effective. When Sarah granted him lycanthropy back in May, it was originally meant as a way to aid with the night guard…by making him into a guard dog. It was in July that Phil realized what was causing the "black-outs" and thanks to Belle's gift of the red cloak and Loki's guidance that he began to properly use the gift to defend those he loved and cared for.
Belladonna Gold (nee French) was Phil's first love in Eros, a woman with whom he's shared so many events and one of the first people he ever allowed into his heart. She made the nightmares about Freddy's and his mistakes go away with her presence and charm. She was also the only one (along with Donna, her other personality) to truly tame Gram, the wolf side, first with the red cloak and then by reading him stories during those hard nights. Though now married to a man in her world, Phil never judged Belle and embraced her, confessing his love to and let her choose her own path in Eros and her life.
In contrast to the regal Belladonna, V'kebbe the Stray was a Miqo’te from Eoreza that would then offer Phil lessons in using daggers, in order to teach him to not always rely on the beast. Once an unknown rogue, it's through Narukami's punishment that V and Phone Guy met and they have become inseparable friends. Though the May “Hunting” event tested V'kebbe's code for hurting the man in a position of weakness, Phil was able to help her get over what happened by not only forgiving her but trusting her with his past.
It's also here that he begins his underground business of Information gathering and brokering, keeping an eye on the various gangs for the Maeve alongside V’kebbe.
